Primary Purpose:
Work as a capacity builder by providing systemic support of Lewisville’s vision, mission, and goals. Provide seamless curricular, instructional, and programmatic leadership for all secondary campuses in LISD. Collaborate with leaders from other district divisions to create systems that support principals and teachers to provide rigorous learning standards and engaging work to students. Lead curriculum design work to frame innovative learning standards, create authentic assessments, and design engaging work to ensure all students achieve at high levels. Ensure that Secondary programs (Advanced World Languages, ESL, Honors, Advanced Placement, Secondary STEM, and Gifted/Talented) are implemented in collaboration with campus leadership and have appropriate evaluation measures to assess program effectiveness. Provide professional learning that compels campus administrators and teachers to embrace deep learning for all students in a way that maximizes use of technology for learning, collaboration, and communication. Ensure all secondary programming and curriculum design directly supports student achievement of College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) indicators as required by Texas accountability standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas secondary certification
- Administrative Certificate (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- 5 -8 years’ experience as district and/or secondary instructional leader
- Effective professional learning leader for teachers and administrators
- Strong portfolio evidencing leadership in district and/or campus-wide initiatives
- Collaborate and build enthusiasm with community, staff and students to create safe, nurturing, inclusive, and flexible learning environments.
- Demonstrate innovation with curriculum and instructional design.
- Collaborate with the diverse Lewisville ISD community, staff, and students to use their strengths, resources, and talents to provide engaging, innovative experiences for all learners.
- Create flexible systems that result in a learning organization supported by innovative and engaged staff.
- Develop and implement meaningful, varied assessments that inform and inspire students and educators for continuous improvement in a way that transforms learning and teaching.
- Use leadership coaching skills fluently.
- Manage budgets judiciously and proficiently.
- Use a variety of technology tools for enhancing communication and learning.
- Deep understanding of CCMR accountability requirements and indicators.
- Ability to analyze CCMR performance data and implement improvement strategies
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide district leadership and oversight, including the creation of program evaluation measures, for all curriculum development and design for all core content (6-12), Secondary Gifted and Talented programs, World Languages, ESL, Secondary STEM, Honors, and Advanced Placement courses.
- Create systems that align concepts and content across curriculum and instructional settings.
- Ensure learning standards encompass future ready skills (problem solving, communication, and self-direction) and personal development skills (choice, social and emotional skills, self-management).
- Ensure standards are evident in curriculum documents and instructional practices, including grading/promotion/graduation policies, curriculum guides, district-required assessments, and learning criteria for rigorous learning tasks across all disciplines.
- Develop systems that intentionally engage campus leaders, teachers, and students in the planning, enactment, evaluation, and improvement of curriculum and instructional programs.
- Provide district oversight for instructional materials adoptions based on proclamations issued by the State Board of Education.
- Design advanced academic pathways that maximize student opportunities to meet CCMR indicators, including AP exam scores of 3 or higher, meeting TSI criteria through SAT/ACT/TSIA2 assessments or college prep courses and dual credit.
- Lead and support instructional design that provides a variety of relevant experiences to engage students and encourage risk-taking, flexibility, and creativity.
- Create and deliver professional learning for campus leadership and teachers through a variety of pathways that supports successful implementation of the curriculum for all learners.
- Support campus professional learning communities as they collaborate around student learning
- Provide leadership that fosters creativity and trust to inspire change.
- Support organizational transformation through participation in local, regional and state consortia.
- Support teachers through professional learning related to developing and using learner-centered, authentic formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and meet the needs of learners.
- Facilitate high-quality, ongoing assessment of student learning aligned to challenging content standards and college and career readiness skills using effective systems, technology tools, and supports.
- Provide supportive, timely and effective professional learning including data analysis and response tools for all required assessments (district, state, etc.)
- Provide oversight to maintain updated Credit-By-Exam (CBEs) and Credit-By-Acceleration (CBAs).
- Monitor and analyze district CCMR performance data to ensure compliance with Texas accountability requirements and maximize student opportunities for CCMR completion.
- Collaborate with counseling, assessment and CTE to ensure all students have pathways to meet at least one CCMR indicator prior to graduation.
- Provide instructional support to secondary campuses for use and implementation of federal funding.
- Provide systemic support for Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) to attain English proficiency, reach high levels of academic achievement, and meet challenging State and Federal academic requirements for graduation.
- Support secondary campuses who must meet designated requirements as a result of not meeting state or federal accountability criteria.
- Collaborate to provide support to campuses for understanding and using data and information related to the state accountability system.
- Remain current in curriculum, differentiated instruction, assessment, and professional learning best practices.
- Serve as a model of life-long learning through intentional participation in professional learning with other district leaders, campus leaders and teachers.
- Utilize research skills to gather information from other schools and districts around common problems of practice to seek innovation solutions.
- Participate in activities that promote district and community relations.
- Serve on various advisory committees and planning teams.
- Supervise members of the curriculum and program team and assigned department administrative support positions.
